Tracks & Sounds
Pixelboop is organized into four distinct musical tracks. Each track occupies a horizontal section of the 44x24 grid.
The Four Tracks
- Chords: The foundation of your sound.
- Melody: The lead voice.
- Bass: The low-end energy.
- Drums: The rhythmic pulse.

Track Layout
The grid is divided horizontally into four tracks.
Melody Track
Rows 2-7 (6 rows). High-pitched leads and riffs.
Chords Track
Rows 8-13 (6 rows). Foundation pads and harmonies.
Bass Track
Rows 14-17 (4 rows). Low-end energy.
Rhythm Track
Rows 18-21 (4 rows). Drums (Kick, Snare, Hats, etc.).
Row 22 — Indicator Lane
Row 22 sits between the Rhythm track (rows 18-21) and the bottom control row (row 23). It is the Indicator Lane: a single-row strip that gives you a live overview of your song's structure.
Hold anywhere on row 22 for ~500 ms to cycle between two views:
- Track Colors (default): each step column lights up with the spectral gradient color of whichever track has a note at that step. This gives you a quick snapshot of pattern density across all tracks.
- Key Automation: each step column shows the root-note color recorded at that position. Use this to see how your key changes are distributed across the 32-step timeline.

Hold anywhere on row 22 to toggle between Track Colors and Key Automation views.
Track Colors view (default)
Row 22 in Track Colors mode: each lit column reflects the color of the loudest active track at that step.
Key Automation view

tip
In v1.1.0 the cycling is two-state: Track Colors → Key Automation → Track Colors. A third state (Jam History) is planned for a future release.
